On April 8th at 8 pm on Zoom our Film Discussion group will be talking about Marty (1955). One of only 3 movies to win both the Palme d’Or at Cannes and best picture at the Academy Awards. It also took home Oscars for Best Actor, Screenplay, and director. This film predates the MPAA rating system, and has a length of 1hr 30min.
Synopsis: Marty, a butcher who lives in the Bronx with his mother is unmarried at 34. Good-natured but socially awkward he faces constant badgering from family and friends to get married but has reluctantly resigned himself to bachelorhood. However, after Marty meets someone his family and friends try to convince him not to call her.
