Friends of The Mansfield Library Potluck Dinner with Japanese storyteller Motoko

October 13, 2017 @ 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

This year’s annual Potluck Dinner will be held on Friday, October 13th in the Buchanan Auditorium. Drinks and appetizers will be provided and served by the Friends board at 5:30pm. As always, our members will supply a variety of wonderful dishes for dinner, which will start at 6:00pm. There will be a very short business meeting at 7:00pm followed by our evening’s entertainment: Japanese storyteller Motoko.

A native of Osaka, Japan, Motoko first came to the U.S. as an exchange student to the University of Massachusetts. Her earlier career included working as a Japanese language instructor at UMASS for 10 years. She trained with late master mime Tony Montanaro. Her partner, Eshu Bumpus introduced her to the world of American storytelling. Motoko has performed professionally since 1993, going to hundreds of schools, libraries, museums and festivals. Her repertoire appeals to all ages and
includes Asian folklore, zen tales, comical tales, funny mime vignettes and personal stories from her childhood.
