Join us outside on the lawn for our first family program in over a year! Felicia Cooper is receiving her MFA in UConn’s Puppetry Arts Program, and we are delighted to present her show “Ish,” which features shadow puppets and a colorful submarine! The puppet show features an 11-year-old hyper curious scientist on a submarine, searching for the 52-Hertz Whale, and uses original music, shadow puppets, automata, and object performance to illustrate her journey as she faces the ocean head on. Themes include dealing with loneliness, creative problem solving, and personal courage. The show is supported by the CT Sea Grant and the Marks Family Foundation and is recommended for children ages 5 and up.
All our programs will be outside this summer. Masks are required inside the building; for outside gatherings we will follow current local guidelines. Please remember this is a public space, and be respectful of others. We all are experiencing different comfort levels as we increase our activities, and we want everyone to feel safe coming to the Library.
Outside programming means possible weather cancellations; please understand that for some of our performers wind is as much of a problem as rain. For some performers you will see a designated rain date; for others the date will be determined. If we have to reschedule we will find a date as close to the original date as possible.
