Residents are charged for the quantity of trash they create. Bags of trash that do not fit into the trash container may incur an additional cost. Extra bags of trash on the ground will not be taken by the trash collector unless arrangements have been made ahead of time. Complete the form above to request collection of additional bags of household trash. A charge of $4.00 for each additional 30-35 gallon bag will be added to your trash bill.
If the trash container is overfilled (lid doesn't close), the extra bags may be taken, but you will be charged for each additional bag of trash at $4.00 per 30-35 gallon bag.
Some residents take their extra trash to the transfer station. For the transfer station location and hours go to http://www.mansfieldct.gov/1564/Transfer-Station. The cost is $4.00 per 30-35 gallon bag. Once a year in December, the Town offers extra household trash pick-up. This does not include bulky waste items. The notice about extra pick-up is posted on the website and included in the quarterly bill inserts.
How do I handle extra trash if I am moving in or moving out?
If you are moving in or moving out, you can set up for a higher trash service level. For move-ins, once a normal routine is established, you can reduce your service. There is a $10 fee to make a change in service level. The other option is to bring extra trash to the transfer station. The cost is $4.00 per 30-35 gallon bag.
