Dear Mansfield Resident,
If you own real property in the Town of Mansfield, which is and has been your primary residence for at least one year, you are over the age of 65 years old by December 31, 2023 or 100% Social Security disabled, and meet the income criteria below, you may be entitled to participate in the "Elderly or Totally Disabled Homeowner's Tax Credit Program".
This year, as in previous years, the Mansfield Department of Human Services will intake these applications. Due to scheduling requirements which prevent us from being able to take walk-in applicants, we kindly request you call the Department of Human Services at 860-487-9873 to schedule an appointment.
Qualifying income for 2023 must not exceed $43,800 for an unmarried person and $53,400 for a married couple.
Please be sure to bring the following items to your appointment:
- 2023 Federal Income Tax Return
- 2023 Income Verification including but not limited to:
- 2023 SSA-1099
- Railroad Retirement Income
- Veteran’s Pensions
- Any pension 1099
- Rental Income
- IRA &/or Annuity disbursements
- Interest statements
- W-2 Income statements
- Unemployment compensation
- Workman’s compensation
- Written statement from CT nursing home facility confirming date of residence & Medicaid eligibility if married and spouse is residing in a nursing facility.
