Governor Lamont is advising Connecticut residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, to take precautions ahead of the high temperatures. Cooling centers are opening statewide., and you can dial 211 to find where they are. Take care of yourself by drinking plenty of fluids, wear loose, lightweight clothing, and stay indoors.
Here in Mansfield, these facilities are air-conditioned and available to you as cooling centers during business hours:
- The Mansfield Community Center is open 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM during the week, and until 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday if you need a cool space.
- The Mansfield Senior Center is open 8:30 AM until 4:30 Monday through Friday.
- Mansfield Public Library is also open 9 AM to 8 PM Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 AM to 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
- The Mansfield Library Express, located at Nash-Zimmer Transportation Center on Royce Circle in Downtown Storrs, is open 9 AM to 5 PM Monday to Friday and 10 AM to 2 PM on Sat., too.
