Is there a fee for registering as a Landlord?: The fee is $25.00 for an initial registration of a property. If you have multiple properties in the same name, only one $25.00 registration fee is required.

1. Do I need to register as a Landlord?: Yes, if the property is not owner occupied.

2. Do I need to register if I live at the property?: If the property is owner occupied or if you are renting a separate dwelling on your property where you reside, you do not need to register.

3. Is there a fee for registering as a Landlord?: The fee is $25.00 for an initial registration of a property. If you have multiple properties in the same name, only one $25.00 registration fee is required.

4. Does my rental property need to be inspected?: Yes. All rentals must hold a valid Certificate of Compliance. Inspections are conducted every 2 years.

5. What if my property or unit does not pass inspection?: You will be granted 15 days to correct violations. If the violation is not a life safety violation, you may request additional time by filling out a Waiver Pending Correction Form.

6. What happens after I pass inspection?: You will be invoiced $150.00 (per unit). After receipt of payment, a Certificate of Compliance will be issued.

7. What if my tenant refuses to allow entry for the inspection?: The Town is obligated by ordinance to conduct the housing inspection. If the tenant refuses entry, the Town will request an Administrative Search Warrant from the Court to gain entry to do the inspection.

8. What is the Off-Street Parking Ordinance?: This ordinance applies to 1, 2 and 3 family dwelling units only. An application, approved site plan showing where the tenants may park and fee is required prior to issuance of a Certificate of Compliance.
